Some key points Lori stresses in therapy are:
*Feelings are NOT Facts
*What you allow is what will continue
*You don’t have to believe your thoughts
*People who don’t like your boundaries are the ones who benefit from you not having any
*People Pleasing is really about you not being able to tolerate someone not liking you
*Your desire to change must be greater than your desire to stay the same
Key Scriptures For Christian Clients:
Romans 5: 3-4 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
1 Peter 1: 6-7 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Galatians 1: 10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
James 1: 2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Proverbs 12: 25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.
