Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy is a psychoeducational and therapeutic approach used to develop, in a non-judgmental manner, a deeper awareness of what is happening in one’s mind and body from moment to moment. Based on the latest neuroscience as well as decades of research, MBSR (and Mindfulness-Based CBT) utilizes emotional regulation techniques such as meditation and yoga to observe and become aware of one’s symptoms, develop a deeper sense of understanding and acceptance of oneself, and resolve or effectively manage symptoms of many issues such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, impulsivity and stress. In therapy, MBSR can be formally utilized in an 8 week format, or informally integrated into regular sessions to increase resiliency and emotional well-being.
